Bio

I was born in Clearwater, Florida.  My family moved to the Highland Home area when I was 4 years old.  I attended  Highland Home High School and graduated from there in 1985.  I was uncertain as to what I wanted to do upon graduation.  However; a wonderful group of teachers realized that I had potential and helped  me obtain a four year scholarship to Troy State University.  While at Troy, I realized that teaching was where my strengths were and I obtained my Bachelor's Degree in 1989.

After graduation, I began my teaching career at Seminole County Elementary School.  I taught there for four years.  From there I moved back home to Alabama and spent the next two years teaching at South Montgomery County Academy.  Since that time (1995), I have made Kinston Elementary my home.

In 1996, I obtained my Master's Degree from Troy State University at Dothan.  In 2005, I attended the Alabama Reading Academy and became an ARI certified teacher. In the summers of 2008 and 2009, I attended AMSTI ( Alabama Math, Science, and Technology Institute) training.  These accomplishments have helped me help my students reach their fullest potential.

I was blessed to have competed in high school on two state championship cheerleading squads.  Cheerleading was and still is my passion. I have served as the Cheerleader Sponsor at each of the schools that I have worked at throughout my career. High school athletics provides so many positive experiences for students.  I am so fortunate to be a part of this aspect of the school program.

I would say that my students have taught me as much or more than I have probably taught them.  I have been blessed to have worked with so many remarkable children throughout my career.

I currently reside in Kinston with my husband Mickey. Both of our children, Aaron and Marley, are graduates of Kinston School.
