I was born in Andalusia and raised in Opp.  I attended the Opp City Schools, where both of my parents were teachers, until the second semester of my Senior year.  I then transferred to Elmore County High School in Eclectic, Alabama where I graduated.  I went straight to Auburn University from high school.

Coming from a family of educators, I guess teaching was "in my blood".  I declared Early Childhood Education as my major.  However, after my Freshman year, my education was sidetracked when I left Auburn and got married.  Over the next several years, I attended several colleges and worked at various jobs.  When my children were in elementary and middle school, I decided to continue my pursuit of a career as an educator.  I enrolled at Troy University where I received my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in August, 1992.  That same month, I was hired as an Instructional Aide at Kinston Elementary.  After the first few weeks, it became apparent that a second third grade teacher was necessary.  By the grace of God, I was chosen for the job.  In 1996, I enrolled at Troy once again to pursue my Master's Degree.  I received that degree in 1997. I am beginning my 26th year of teaching at Kinston.

I believe that a person must be called to teach.  God has given me a great gift through that calling.  There is no greater pleasure to me than playing a part in shaping the lives of the future leaders of our communities and nation.  I also believe that there is no better place in the world to fulfill that calling than Kinston School.

I currently live in Opp, Alabama with my husband, Timothy.  We have four children, Valerie Presley Carnley and her husband Josh, and Trey Presley and his wife Kaitlin. We also have two beautiful granddaughters, Presley Ann and Stella Kayte Carnley, and two grandsons, John Matthew Carnley and Clive Presley, all four of whom I enjoy thoroughly spoiling.  My husband is a purchasing agent for Cox Oil  in NewPattersons, Louisiana.  Valerie is a stay at home mom. Josh is part owner of SanBuck Insurance and owner of an agricultural business in Ino. Trey works in safety for Cox Oil in Pascagoula, Mississippi.   We are active members of Ino Baptist Church and enjoy traveling to Venezuela on Mission Trips every chance we get.  Everyone in our family is also a big AUBURN fan except our daughter in law, Kaitlin who pulls for that other team.  WAR_R_R_R_R_R_R_ EAGLE!!!!!
